Mineral Grinding Plant Hamm

Proven expertise and experience since 1961.

Fast work,
powerful performance.

The mineral grinding plant in Hamm today employs 80 people who produce 240,000 tons per year in three shifts on three crushers and eight processing units. All processing units are equipped with dryers, modern screening machines and ball mills. In addition, a mixing unit is available for the production of MgO wear compounds for the steel industry. Up to 30,000 tons per year are filled into paper and film sacks on a fully automatic filling and palletizing line. MMW has a total operating area of 100,000m², of which 70,000m² is used for the storage of minerals, while 24,000m² of the storage areas for raw and finished goods are covered over.

Our Range of Services

Delivery & Collection

Thanks to our location in the port of Hamm – Europe’s busiest pure canal port – we have very good logistical links to the key European overseas ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp, Amsterdam and Hamburg: raw materials from all over the world reach us from there via the waterway network, the Rhine, the Wesel-Datteln Canal and the Datteln-Hamm Canal. Our mineral grinding plant in Hamm is conveniently located on the main traffic arteries A1 and A2 for optimum connections in all four directions.

Storage of Raw and Finished Goods

The mineral grinding plant Hamm is one of the largest processing plants in Europe. On a total operating area of 100,000 m², 70,000 m² are available for the storage of minerals alone. Up to 200,000 tons of raw materials can be stored, of which 150,000 tons are stored in covered warehouses. In addition, the plant has a storage capacity of 2,000 tons for finished goods in silos.

(Contract) Processing

At the Hamm site, up to 240,000 tons of minerals are processed annually at three crushing plants and eight grinding and screening plants. Our highly specialized infrastructure enables single-variety processing using eight combined drying, grinding and screening plants. These include three plants for MgO products, two for Al₂O₃ products, a drying plant for chrome ore sands, a flexible plant for alternating products and a plant for iron oxides. Depending on customer requirements, we offer very fine particles sizes of less than 25 µm up to 500 µm. Our flexible screening machines produce grain sizes from 0-0.2 mm to 8-15 mm, thus meeting the specific requirements of a wide range of industries.

Products for a wide range of applications.

Our products are used in a wide range of industries. Many of the refractory materials we process are used in the steel industry. But our refractory or extremely heat-resistant raw materials are also used in foundries, the construction and leather industries, biogas plants and in the production of foundry supplies. These properties also come into play in furnace construction.

Recycling

We extract raw materials from furnace or production waste, analyze them and look for potential uses for secondary raw materials. In this way, we help to conserve resources, develop new (secondary) raw material sources and thus close cycles. To this end, we analyze your production waste or residues, process pre-sorted minerals that have already been used for you and return the secondary raw materials to your production.

(Contract) Laboratory Analysis

Our analyses and certifications guarantee the necessary security in the international raw materials trade. All materials – both the raw materials and the processed products – are comprehensively tested at our modern in-house chemical testing laboratory. X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF) can be used to precisely determine the qualitative and quantitative elemental composition of samples. In addition, particle size analysis is carried out using laser diffraction to determine important key figures such as D10, D50, D90 and the specific surface area. Particle size distributions and grinding fineness levels are also precisely determined at the company's own sieving laboratory. These comprehensive quality controls ensure the consistently high quality of our products and create trust in the trade.

(Contract) Packaging & Repackaging

MMW Hamm offers a high degree of flexibility when it comes to packaging and transportation. Our regrind can be filled loose directly into silo trucks or packed in PE/paper sacks or big bags for transportation. Our new fully automatic filling and palletizing system is capable of filling up to 30,000 tons per year into paper and film bags.
