Calcined Bauxite
Calcined bauxite is produced by firing/sintering/calcining raw bauxite grades that are low in iron and alkali at temperatures of 1600 to 1800°C. The highly refractory mineral phases corundum and mullite are formed in the process. Calcined bauxite is therefore one of the most important raw materials for the production of shaped and unshaped refractory products for the steel industry, foundries and cement and glass works. The bauxite can be supplied as uncrushed raw material or in grains and grind sizes, either in bulk or packaged according to customer requirements.
